It’s late June now and today was officially the beginning of summer. It’s also been rather slow in terms of disco pants wearings, just as expected. Strangely enough, there have been a number of cool days this month. In fact, it seems every other day has been in the low 60s or upper 50s which is great disco pants weather. But I haven’t worn them much regardless.
It’s great when it is cool enough for a jacket. And 50s and low 60s can be that way except when it’s way too sunny. I guess I could have gotten some more wearings on those days but I just opted for other pants. I had been wearing the altered AA disco pants a bit much and I should go back to the vintage style ones. I have been neglecting those.
But it is scheduled to get really warm in the coming days. And that means absolutely no spandex disco jeans. I grew annoyed with carrying that messenger bag to put my things in. I absolutely need some space to put things in since disco pants don’t afford the luxury of additional pockets. So it may be possible that when it gets really warm I will not weary any disco jeans or even my disco jean shorts because I don’t want to carry that bag!
I finally got my medium pair of black AA disco pants. It’s an original made-in-USA one and brand new so I’m really thrilled about it. I have not taken it in to get altered yet. Probably will do so this coming week. One thing different I will have done on this pair is to make it ever so slightly longer. I love wearing my low top Converse sneakers but all the altered pants happen to be just a tad short to wear with them. I can still get away with it because it’s rather fashionable to wear ‘floods’ now and it even looks good, too. And since the opening down there is rather small it helps keep it from being a bad look. But for the most part I usually wear high top Converse with them just because I don’t fully appreciate the gap. So I think just another inch of length will do.
I did come into a brown pair of vintage spandex disco jeans. It is a Le’Gambi brand pair and I was really excited to have come across it. When I was told the inseam measurement I suspected it may be a bit short on me but there was some hem to let down and so I did. Yet the pants still turned out a tad short. The opening on these pants is noticeably wider than on the altered AA pairs—it should be because the vintage ones are considered straight leg—thus, the look isn’t as acceptable to me as it is with the AA. But I will try it on again and see what kind of look I can come up with.
Received my AA order not too long ago and am very glad to say that I fit easily into both the menthe and deep peacock pairs in size small. I had also ordered a pearl in medium but it did not come. No explanation, no anything. Strange indeed. I still want to secure a pair of pearl in medium so I can have it altered. Then I’ll be pretty much done with the alterations. Should be done with pretty much everything disco-pants-related by then. I will be looking forward to a very interesting fall.
The worse thing about not wearing these pants for extended periods is that you get used to not wearing them and it almost becomes a challenge to wear them again. Although I will say it is not as difficult a challenge as it used to be. But for now I’ll keep hoping that we get more cool, jacket days so I can go out in my amazing, shiny spandex jeans.
